Job Description: We are looking for Health Facility Evaluator II- Investigators- for our Southern Regional Office, which is headquartered in Covina (Off Hwy 10 near the intersection of Hwy 605). We are recruiting for more than 1 vacancy. Our desired candidates are individuals seeking new challenges and the chance to make a difference in the lives of senior citizens and other dependent individuals. The candidates chosen for these positions will work as Investigators with the Investigation Section, Licensing and Certification Program, in the Center for Health Care Quality. As an Investigator, you'll investigate complaints involving Certified Nurse Assistants, Home Health Aides, and Certified Hemodialysis Technicians. As an Investigator, you will have the responsibility for investigating complaints of all manner of unprofessional conduct, including patient abuse, negligence, & misappropriation of property that take place in the Southern part of the State. Our region extends from Bakersfield across to Santa Maria South, to the Mexican border. As an Investigator, under the supervision of a Health Facility Evaluator Manager I (Supervising Investigator), you will take administrative disciplinary actions and prepare and defend cases before Administrative Law Judges at administrative hearings. As an Investigator, you will have an opportunity to work with State and Local law enforcement agencies, including Department of Justice, District Attorneys, Police, and Probation Departments. Your investigations will take place at General Acute Care Hospitals, Skilled Nursing Facilities, and Facilities for the Developmentally Disabled as well as in private homes. As an Investigator, you will have an opportunity to conduct your own investigations, independently assess investigative findings and present, verbally and in writing, recommendations to management. You will also manage your own caseload and help rid the industry of abusers and bad caregivers. Following a rigorous and thorough training period, you will spend time in the field and not all of your time behind a desk. Your investigations will assist the Center for Health Care Quality in improving the quality of care for the most dependent individuals in our communities. Candidates with law enforcement experience, criminal justice majors, and/or individuals with a health care background are encouraged to apply. Top candidates must be fingerprinted and cleared of convictions. Candidates with convictions, other than minor traffic violations, will NOT be considered eligible for hire as an Investigator.
