The mission of Accounting Services within CDCR is to support the Department's Mission and Goals by providing accurate fiscal accountability of the department’s funds and appropriations, and ensuring timely payment as required.
The position works in the Sacramento Accounting Office (SAO) within the Capital Outlay Accounts Payable Unit C. SAO is a large, complex accounting office, recording transactions to multiple funding sources, 15 different budgetary programs, and approximately 400 organizational units.
SAO is conveniently located off Highway 50 near Bradshaw Road with FREE PARKING. Work environment emphasizes conscientious customer service within the Department as well as with control agencies and vendors.
Position researches and assists in resolving problems accounts payable issues. Review, audit, and post payments within the Business Information System (BIS). Acts as a unit contact for claim schedule questions from the State Controller’s Office. Provides assistance in the claim schedule process within the Accounts Payable ‘C’ unit. Reviews Office Revolving Fund requests for payments requiring immediate response. Assists in the monitoring of the work flow of the unit and provides supervisor with weekly status. Provides back-up coverage as directed within the unit and the SAO.
To be successful, this person must be able to communicate effectively (written and oral), must be self-disciplined and self-motivated, be organized and flexible, and must have a good attendance record. This person is expected to be a team player and needs to have the ability to maintain cooperative and professional relationships with a multitude of personalities, working levels and various stakeholders.
