Job Description: ***PLEASE INDICATE POSITION NUMBER AND BASIS FOR ELIGIBILITY ON STD. 678.*** Methods of appointment to be considered will include transfers and reinstatements. Applicants must have civil service eligibility. All applications will be reviewed; however, only the most competitive candidates will be interviewed. “Salaries will be adjusted accordingly to comply with the provisions of the current furlough program”. Duties: Participation with and in conjunction with the headquarters Public Health Section staff in the development, review and implementation/modification of Public Health-Infectious Disease Control policy and procedures. Work closely with the Health Care Manager, Chief Medical Officer (CMO) and Chief Physician and Surgeon (CPNS), particularly the implementation of policies and procedures assigned to facility by headquarters Public Health Section. Provide necessary technical assistance and Public Health expertise in the training required for staff and/or inmates on Public Health Policy. Perform internal facility reviews to ensure compliance with Public Health policies, procedures, written reports, and monitor implementation of plans for corrective action. This would include participation assisting with the Infection Control Committee. Ensure appropriate case management by in all infection control issues identified. Provide ongoing technical assistance in the implementation of the Hepatitis program/s, Human Immunodeficiency Virus (HIV) guidelines and current modes to treatment. Track all active Hepatitis cases and report the status to Public Health Section. Track treatments, monitoring and laboratory results. Notify IM/PT PCP’s of all pertinent information concerning the status of IM/PTs. Coordination data collection, surveillance and the analysis unit of the Public Health Section to ensure appropriate, accurate infectious disease/communicable disease reports are filed with the headquarters Public Health office as well as proper agencies outside the Department, i.e., California Department of Public Health (CDPH). Check for accuracy and assist in compiling reports. Investigate incident reports as drawn to the attention of the Department from third parties as related to needed Public Health policy. Answer questions (local-facility specific) from Institutional Administration, staff, both medical and correctional, regarding Public Health policy. Carry out case field investigation of episodes of reportable communicable disease. Identify and make recommendations for Public Health training and educational needs for medical staff and inmates in the correctional setting. Provide technical assistance to the Education Program Implementation Unit of the Public Health Section in the development of Public Health-Infectious Disease Educational Materials, as well as training modules. Arrange locally, time, space, attendees for training modules from Headquarters Office. Liaison with local County Health Officers and other appropriate organizations on infectious disease control issues impacting the community. Maintains a safe and secure environment, following all safety and universal precautions, reports any unsafe equipment or situations, and is knowledgeable of emergency and fire precautions. Responds to emergencies. Attends in-service training, annual IST, and Staff Developments education classes thereby maintaining a current Registered Nurse Licensure with PHN certification and BLS certification. The RN shall perform any other duties as assigned. Travel to education, training and to assist in the infection control process as directed or required. Additional Information:
