JOB DESCRIPTION: This is the entry level and first journey level of this series. Incumbents install, maintain, inspect, and repair standard plumbing equipment concerned with water, gas, oil, sewage, fire control, steam and refrigeration systems; troubleshoot plumbing systems; install and repair pumps, maintain a plumbing shop, make rough sketches and estimate labor and materials for minor plumbing installation and repair; advise on selection, ordering and storage of plumbing supplies and equipment; consult with other tradespeople; keep simple records and make reports; and instruct and lead unskilled assistants.Per Executive order #S-13-09, issued 7/1/09, positions are subject to a pay reduction of 13.85% to facilitate the three furlough days named in the order, which is subject to end on 6/30/2010.
