Job Description: This position will become vacant effective July 1, 2010 ***PLEASE INDICATE POSITION NUMBER AND BASIS FOR ELIGIBILITY ON STD. 678.*** Methods of appointment to be considered will include transfers and reinstatements. Applicants must have civil service eligibility. All applications will be reviewed; however, only the most competitive candidates will be interviewed. “Salaries will be adjusted accordingly to comply with the provisions of the current furlough program”. Duties: Ensures patient medical and mental health care needs are met commensurate with appropriateness and timeliness delineated in established policies and procedures and Title 22. Reviews assignments and redirects staff as needed to cover any emergencies or vacancies. Develops and conducts In-Service Education for nursing and other CDC staff. Serves on committees of the Medical and Mental Health Department and various CDC departments. Conducts Nursing Staff and Safety Training. Is a resource for Healthcare staff members to ensure that medical and mental health care is consistently provided to patient population? Develops and/or reviews nursing policies and procedures, coordinating with custody regulations. Conducts investigations of problem areas of complaints, makes report, and takes corrective action as needed. Completes nursing Quality Improvement Audits and reports to the CQI committee. Assists staff in special projects or emergencies, where needed, always maintaining a safe and secure environment for inmates and co-workers. Attends nursing meetings at various locations as directed by the Health Care Manager. Ensures that the essential daily duties of RNs, LVNs and PTs are performed on a daily basis in the absence of the staff member. Completes IDPs and Probationary Reports within the appropriate time frames. Assists with testing of the nursing staff. Works with others to recruit nursing staff and speaks to groups about prison nursing. Assists with and conducts hiring interviews. Performs tasks and special assignments from the Health Care Manager. Maintains nursing license and CPR certification Additional Information:
