Job Description: Under Supervision, performs varied and complex Medical Record functions, maintain adequate staff in all designated areas: set priorities and give direction as needed. Supervisors/monitors the different job functions of the Health Records department including the collection of health record data from OHU and outside hospital facilities; file maintenance, release of confidential information, medical transcription, health record processing, record transfer, coding of diagnostic, therapeutic and mental health information, concurrent analysis of patient health records, and preparation and dissemination of medical statistical reports. Monitor and verify hours worked by the staff on a daily basis. Maintain compliance with health record standards, institutional, and Health Record Services policies and procedures, state, federal, and regulatory agency requirements. Provide training to staff. Performs continuous quality improvement on the daily job functions of the Health Records Department. Conduct monthly health record staff meetings. Submit weekly progress reports to the Health Records Management Team. Prepare audits as requested by the Health Records Director. Complete performance reports for probationary employees and annual individual development plans. Conduct and/or provide training for health record staff that includes but is not limited to health record systems, evaluation of abstracting and coding problems, and the principles of data processing. Maintain a safe and secure environment by following all safety and Universal Precautions, report any unsafe equipment or situations, and have knowledge of emergency and fire procedures.
