Job Description: Under the supervision of the Hospital Administrative Resident II, the Medical Transcriber works under the lead of he Health Records Technician II (Specialist). Provides medical transcribing using a wide variety of technical medical terms and abbreviations. Assignments consist of technical report writing ability to accurately transcribe psychiatric, psychological, medical, and social work reports. To perform this, the Medical Transcriber applies knowledge of psychiatric, psychological, medical abbreviations, and specific medical forms/reports and their processing; accurate mathematical computations; ability to follow difficult written and oral directons; and, when necessary, evaluate situations correctly and take effective professional action. Who May Apply: Persons currently in the classification eligible to transfer, lateral transfer, voluntary demotions, reinstatements, those eligible for appointment from a certification list, and employees on a SROA list or designated surplus.
