Job Description: Under the close supervision of the Senior Accounting Officer (Supervisor), the incumbent performs routine semi-professional program accounting work related to Claims Processing and Benefit Payment Control. The incumbent makes arithmetical computations and calculations along with account maintenance function activities. The incumbent interprets and applies the provisions of the California Unemployment Insurance Code (CUIC), the Revenue and Taxation Code as it relates to the UI administered by the Department, the California Code of Regulations – Title 22, the California Labor Code, the Federal Unemployment Tax Act, the Departmental regulations, and rules and policies in analyzing, resolving issues and making routine determinations as they relate to the various Claims Processing and Benefit Payment Control workload processes. The incumbent utilizes a variety of databases including, but not limited to: the Single Client Data Base, Base Wage Data Base, Tax Accounting System, InfoImage, the UI Bulletin Board and other tools in determining the appropriate action to take. The incumbent analyzes information obtained from various sources including telephone contacts with employers, claimants and others, and make the routine adjustment entries required in correcting tax compliance errors and other discrepancies and routine monetary eligibility determinations and balances employer and claimant data in accordance with established policies and procedures. The incumbent needs to exercise good judgment in analyzing cases as decisions affect the integrity of the UI Trust Fund, employer tax rates, reserve account changes and claimant benefits. SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS Eligible candidates are: Current state employees with status in the above classification or lateral transfers from an equivalent class, former state employees who can reinstate into this class or persons who are reachable on a current employment list for this classification. **CANDIDATES WHOSE ELIGIBILITY IS BASED ON AN EMPLOYMENT LIST MUST SUBMIT A COPY OF THEIR EXAMINATION RESULTS, INDICATING THEIR TEST SCORE.** All interested applicants must submit a standard State Application Form STD 678 (with original signature), and must clearly indicate the basis of their eligibility in line item number 12 (explanation) of the STD 678.
