Job Description: Salaries will be adjusted accordingly to comply with the provisions of the current furlough program. ** Please indicate on your state application that you are applying for Assistant Information Systems Analyst position 042-130-1479-822 at Centinela State Prison. Please explain your eligibility (i.e. lateral transfer, on a list, etc.) Under the supervision of the Staff Information Systems Analyst (Supervisor), the Assistant Information Systems Analyst (Asst. ISA) operates within a largely diverse technical delivery environment but within a clear accountability framework and possesses the necessary general and technical competencies to assist with prioritizing work, initiating contact, and resolving issues. The incumbent is expected to possess and apply knowledge about the organization’s customer, stakeholder, and business priorities and environment in order to complete work assignments in an effective, accurate, and timely manner. Travel is required. Assists with planning, coordinating, and advising on Information Technology (IT) work efforts to resolve technology operating problems; influences and motivates individuals and teams working toward mutual goals which have basic cooperative attitudes; supports customers experiencing IT problems of moderate complexity; assists team in root cause analysis to implement or recommend implementation of technology solutions; recommends incident control/problem management process improvements based on analysis of current process and service delivery targets; visits California Prison Health Care Services (CPHCS) staff offices and views their operations to better understand constraints and needs, and trains users as needed. Project participant for critical IT key initiatives; participates in project meetings; reviews less complex plans, designs and system specifications developed by project teams; provides technical expertise; identifies necessary project interfaces; provides workload information to supervisor and project managers; provides status reports; participates in project plans and proposal development; participates in the development of division-wide technology methodologies and standards. Analyzes data and situations; reasons logically and creatively; identifies and documents problems; draws valid conclusions; develops effective solutions; applies creative thinking in the design and development of IT solutions; keeps up with established testing and implementation standards; assists in coordinating the activities of technical personnel; acts as a technical specialist on less complex problem resolution activities; keeps current on emerging technologies, trends and best practices; tests and applies security patches, hot fixes, and new software updates. Performs customer support and technical liaison aspects of the job; engages in business relationships with tact and perspective; researches the implication and uses of new technologies; shows initiative and makes time available to ensure general and technical competencies are kept up-to-date in line with industry developments; performs other duties as required. WHO MAY APPLY: Eligible candidates who are current State employees with status in the above classification or lateral transfers from an equivalent class, former State employees who can reinstate into this class or persons who are reachable on a current employment list for this classification.
