Job Description: This is a Peace Officer classification, subject to Peace Officer Standards and Training (POST) requirements. Performs routine investigations within the assigned district, provide direct investigative witness and advisory assistance to other law enforcement or allied agencies and departmental legal staff; effects arrests of criminal suspects or assist in such arrests as required; issue misdemeanor and registration violation citations; assist in search warrant process; respond to DOJ stops; other duties as required. CRITICAL SKILLS: knowledge of law enforcement principles, written/verbal communication, investigative ability, program knowledge. SPECIAL NEEDS: Valid CA driver license, US citizen, no felony convictions. Education, Fitness, Longevity Pay incentives. POST Basic Certificate desired but not required. BA degree w/major or minor* in Criminal Justice or Criminology(*If minor, must have completed: Intro to Criminal Justice or Criminal Law & Philos of Law)OR 2 years of experience as a peace officer doing preliminary investigative work and equivalent of 2 years college w/major in Criminal Justice, Police Science, Law Enforce., Admin of Justice, or Criminology. Fingerprint/Criminal Record Clearance required before hire. Selected candidate will be required to participate in the DMV Pull Notice Program. This is a sensitive position and may be subject to substance testing. “This position(s) may be subject to allocation approval by the Human Resource Branch”. A training & development assignment will not be considered. Salary Range shown is the minimum and maximum for a full time appointment. Salaries for part-time and/or intermittent appointments may vary. This position will be filled in accordance with Executive Order S-09-08.
