ELIGIBILITY REQUIREMENTS: State Employees - Individuals who are currently in this classification, eligible for lateral transfer or promotion, reachable on a certification list, or have SROA/Surplus status.

This position requires the incumbent maintain consistent and regular attendance; communicate effectively, orally and in writing, in dealing with the public and/or other employees; develop and maintain knowledge and skill related to specific tasks, methodologies, materials, tools and equipment; complete assignments in a timely and efficient manner; and, adhere to departmental policies and procedures regarding attendance, leave, and conduct.

The Office Technician-Typing (OT-T) independently researches, composes, and types final routine and controlled correspondence in response to written inquiries from providers, attorneys, legislative staff, or program staff in regards to current cases under review, investigations, or appeal. The OT-T is responsible for review and monitoring of case packages for accuracy and ensure that the language proposed by the multidisciplinary team is consistent with approved Branch audit guidelines. The incumbent is further responsible for reviewing case related documents sent by the Case Development Section and Electronic Data Systems for accuracy and completeness; resolve potential problems or issues such as missing or incomplete documents prior to onsite being conducted; and, assist multidisciplinary team in obtaining supportive documents/medical records in the course of an onsite audit. The OT-T screens and responds to a variety of visitors and telephone calls for the staff in the Southern Section III; and prioritizes and distributes all incoming correspondence.

The incumbent audits, logs, and tracks Travel Expense Claims and Travel Advances to ensure accuracy and completeness; coordinates California Automated Travel Expense Reimbursement System (Cal-ATERS) online processing for all staff in the Section; prepares purchase requests and service orders for equipment and supplies; serve as attendance coordinator and maintain confidential attendance records for the entire Section. The OT-T prepares and processes documents for personnel related activities for the Section; including, but not limited to, health/dental benefits, notices of personnel action, merit salary adjustments, exit clearances, and other such tasks of a confidential nature requiring knowledge of departmental policies and procedures.

The successful incumbent provides a full range of other clerical and technical support for the Southern Section III requiring a high degree of initiative, independence, excellent communication skills, ability to follow oral and written directions, evaluate situations accurately and take effective and appropriate action as need.
