Job Description: DESCRIPTION OF DUTIES: Under the direction of the Prison Industries Superintendent II (Fabric Products), this position is responsible for planning, organizing, and supervising the overall production of Fabric Products within a correctional institution. Typical duties include planning and scheduling inmate labor, raw material and equipment to meet production requirements; incumbent will have lead responsibility for a safety program, quality control, process control, inventory control, and material research. Directly supervises and trains staff, evaulates performance of staff and recommends appropriate action. Supervises inmate payroll timekeeping functions. Develops and processes weekly and monthly production reports; assists in the preparation of equipment budgets, correspondence, and operational procedures; makes periodic safety inspections and enforces all applicable safety rules and regulations; conducts safety meetings weekly and maintains the Injury and Illness Prevention Plans (IIPP) updated on file, for free staff and inmates in the shop; implements and maintains a preventive maintenance program for all equipment. Maintains security of work areas and prevents escapes. WORK SHIFT: Monday-Thursday, 0615-1615. REQUISITE SKILLS AND ABILITIES: Computer literate, good interpersonal and time management skills, and good working knowledge of automated inventory control systems. WHO MAY APPLY: Persons currently in the classification, within lateral transfer range, or those with list eligibility.
