Job Description: Under the direct supervision of the Nursing Coordinator and the overall supervision of he Salinas Valley Psychiatric Program (SVPP) Directors, the Senior Medical Technical Assistant supervises and works with staff performing medical and psychiatric care of inmate-patients and performs cutodial activities in an assigned area; protects and maintains the safety of persons and property; provides a basic level of general behavioral psychiatric nursing care to inmate-patients who are mentally disordered offenders. As a Peace Officer and Program Cutody Supervisor, acts a liaison between Department Mental Health (DMH) and California Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation (CDCR) on cutody issues; supervises the conduct of inmate-patients; maintains order; maintains the safety of persons and property does other related work as assigned. Who May Apply: Persons currently in the classification eligible to transfer, lateral transfer, voluntary demotions, reinstatements, those eligible for appointment from a certification list, and employees on a SROA list or designated surplus.
