Job Description: POSITION DESCRIPTION: Under the clinical supervision and direction of the Chief Physician and Surgeon, the Physician Assistant, CF, provides primary care services to the inmate population, including assessment, diagnosis, management and treatment of episodic illness and chronic illness, as well as health promotion and general evaluation of health status. Primary Care Services to be provided by a Physician Assistant, CF, must be delegated in writing by the supervising physician. The Physician Assistant, CF, also may act as first or second assistant in surgery under the supervision of an approved supervising physician. May be required to perform other duties as deemed necessary for essential institutional operations. LICENSE: Possession of a current Physician Assistant license for the State of California. DESIRABLE QUALIFICATIONS: Ability to work effectively as a health team member; work effectively with inmates/patients to solve physical, mental, and social health problems; speak and write effectively; participate in the development of standardized procedures and protocols. ADDITIONAL INFORMATION: Appointment is subject to all State and Departmental Freeze restrictions. Submit a copy of your latest performance evaluation and license with your Standard State Application (STD. 678). Applications will be screened and only the most qualified candidates will be interviewed. *Salaries will be adjusted in accordance with the provisions of the current furlough program.
