POSITION DESCRIPTION: Under the direct supervision of the Supervising Registered Nurse III, the SRN II is responsible for planning, organizing, assigning, and directing the work of nursing staff; participate in nursing recruitment and hiring interviews; review the twenty-four (24) hour nursing report and coordinates follow-up on urgent needs. Ensure appropriate implementation of the Inmate Medical Services Program (IMSP) by nursing services staff; prepare all IMSP reports; assist Quality Management Assistance Teach staff during program implementation, reviews or audits, and assume a lead role (along with institution Health Care management staff) with various institutional Quality Management Committees; evaluate staff performance; develop and review local nursing policies; responsible for performing the duties of Outpatient Housing Unit or Clinic RN when needed; direct and coordinate inmate movement to outside health care facilities; perform utilization management duties on inpatients, as well as those housed at community hospitals; conduct audits and quality reviews; assess, coordinate, and provide medical staff training needs; coordinate services with the work of other departments within the institution; participate in assigned committees. DESIRABLE QUALIFICATIONS: Possess a thorough knowledge of nursing principles, methods, and procedures; ability to organize and prioritize; analyze situations accurately to adopt an effective course of action; strong written and verbal skills. ADDITIONAL INFORMATION: Appointment is subject to all State and Departmental Freeze Restrictions.
