Job Description: POSITION DESCRIPTION: Recruitment is for limited-term up to 12 months. If appointed limited-term you will gain State service for qualifying months and may become permanent, if eligible, without an additional interview. Under supervision of the Supervisor of Building Trades, is responsible for leading Electrician staff and inmate crews in electrical projects; maintenance and repair of electrical units; train staff and inmate crews in the safe use of electrical tools and equipment; write project specifications; develop time and materials costs; coordinate work with other shops on the institutional grounds; maintain the work order system in the Electrical Shop; maintain the security of working areas and work materials; inspects premises for contraband and operates the shop in a safe, secure manner; responsible for daily took inventory at the beginning and end of each shift, and perform other job related duties. Work Schedule: Monday – Friday, 0800 to 1600 hours. DESIRABLE QUALIFICATIONS: Ability to communicate effectively, both verbally and written; ability to work cooperatively with staff and exercise a high degree of accuracy in performing assigned tasks; knowledge of construction, high voltage, electrical installation, safety and trouble shooting controls; working knowledge of the National Electrical Codes; understanding of preventive maintenance; procurement and warehousing procedures; ability to set priorities, and respond quickly in emergency situations.
