Under supervision, to perform public health nursing services including the prevention and control of communicable diseases and sexually transmitted diseases, epidemiological investigations, teaching inmates and staff prevention of the spread of infection; implement infectious disease control procedures; participate in conferences on community/public health problems; act as a liaison with State and local county health departments and other appropriate health organizations on infectious disease control issues; assist with development of polices and procedures on infectious disease issues; keep records and prepare reports. *Starting Salary: $6,964/monthly - Non-Bay Area. $7,676/monthly - Bay Area (San Quentin State Prison, Salinas Valley State Prison and the Correctional Training Facility). Additional bonuses are offered at Adult Institutions as indicated below: • Receive a $1,500 bonus upon successful completion of one qualifying pay period • Receive a $1,500 bonus upon successful completion of six qualifying pay periods • Receive a $1,000 bonus upon successful completion of 18 qualifying pay periods Requirements: Possession of a current license as a registered nurse in California and a current certificate as a Public Health Nurse in California. (Applicants who do not meet this requirement will be admitted to the examination, but they must secure the required license and certificate before they will be considered eligible for appointment.) “Per Governor's Executive Order #S-13-09, issued 07/01/2009, this position is subject to a pay reduction of 13.85% to facilitate the three furlough days named in the order, which is subject to end on 06/30/2010. The minimum and maximum salaries indicated on this bulletin DO NOT reflect this pay reduction.” All Methods of appointment may be considered.
