Job Description:
Under the supervision of the Chief, Financial Management Service, acts as lead for the Cashiering Unit. Duties include, but are not limited to, the following: Daily Bank operations, including: sets up Bank Teller cash drawers and verifies Bank Tellers cash at the end of the day. Assists Bank Tellers in cash reconciliation. Compiles and prints computer (Meditech) reports. Counts cash, balances books and determines daily cash deposit. Maintains individual member trust accounts and processes deposits for: Estate collections, Posthumous account, Post Fund Enterprises, Meal Tickets, Hostess House, Lodging, Recreational Park fees, restricted and unrestricted member benefits funds, member activity accounts, Donations and the daily checking account. Approves the daily checking account deposits and withdrawals. Generates daily Meditech summary reports and balances all cash. Determines daily cash requirements. Reviews and approves requests from various accounts to ensure that sufficient funds are available. Resolves customer problems and corresponds with members and responsible persons regarding payments of Fees and Aid/Attendance. Schedules roving cashier for inpatient areas. Responsible for the physical security of the Cashiering area and ensures that proper safeguards are practiced. Maintains files and collection records for the member loan and member charge programs. Processes returned checks from banks, establishes accounts receivable and notifies resident with a letter and records payment. Prepares annual accounting for Social Security Administration and Superior Courts for Veterans Home Conservatorships. Maintains monthly listing for members enrolled in: cash restrictions, Fee repayment plans, Payees and Automatic Deposit. Receives and processes all resident benefit checks. Prepares transaction batches for trust deposits, and fee payments for special programs and Veterans Home payees. Provides assistance and guidance to resolve problems with daily balancing. Compiles and posts monthly bank interest to resident trust accounts. Coordinates monthly generation and auditing of monthly bank statements. Trains newly hired cashiering staff on desk procedures Performs other duties as needed to maintain services in the cashiering/accounting office.
