Job Description: SUBJECT TO HIRING FREEZE EXEMPTION: The following will be considered for interview and possible appointment: eligible candidates who are current state employees with status in the above classification, lateral transfers from an equivalent class, former state employees who can reinstate into this class, and persons who are reachable on a current employment list for this classification. All interested candidates must submit a standard State Application Form STD 678 (with original signature). Appointment is subject to SROA and State surplus policies. Surplus candidates must submit copy of surplus status letter. Salary posted is actual base pay of classification; Executive Order S-16-08 implementing State Employee Furloughs will reduce salary received by 13.85% until June 2010. MAJOR TASKS, DUTIES, AND RESPONSIBILITIES - Under direction, to operate and service passenger vehicles, trucks, small-wheeled tractors, and similar motor equipment; to do general labor work and other related work as requested. Operates, services, washes, and makes minor adjustments and repairs to passenger vehicles, trucks, small-wheeled tractors, forklifts, and other automotive equipment; transports passengers; supervises the work of helpers; Refuels equipment, keeps simple records. Loads, unloads, and delivers laundry, ice, food, furniture, freight, farm products, gravel, rubbish, and other materials; performs miscellaneous manual laboring work and messenger service; Dispatch pool vehicles and equipment, for use by authorized employees on State Business. Keep maintenance logs for vehicles and equipment on file and current. Assists the Heavy Equipment Mechanic with the maintenance and repair of Hospital vehicles and construction equipment. Promote Plant Operations' Safety Program by following proper safety procedures in all areas of responsibility, including defensive and safe driving. Report all unsafe conditions to supervisor or responsible person. Maintain a working knowledge of current or new MSDS. Read, understand, and conform to all Hospital Administrative Directives. Maintain daily tool control. As determined by the Chief of Plant Operations, the AEO I may be temporarily assigned to assist in other Plant Operations functions that would serve the best interests of the Hospital.
