Job Description: WHO MAY APPLY: Eligible candidates who are current State employees with status in the above classification or lateral transfers from an equivalent class, former State employees who can reinstate into this class or persons who are reachable on a current employment list for this classification. All interested applicants must submit a standard State Application Form STD 678 (with original signature), the position number must included on the application being submitted,and must clearly indicate the basis of their eligibility in line item number 12 (explanation) of the STD 678. Surplus candidates must submit copy of surplus letter. Under direction supervision of the Supervising Registered Nurse, SRN II, with general oversight provided by a Program Lead, the Psychiatric Technician performs tasks related to the provision of psychiatric and medical nursing care of inmate patients in the Mental Health Services Delivery System and completes other work as assigned by the Program Lead. The Psychiatric Technician assists with sick call; assists with acquiring and returning medical records; takes and records vital signs; collect laboratory specimens; observes and documents inmate patient’s behavior, status, and activities of daily living (ADLs); makes rounds of assigned areas; monitors and documents medication compliance; performs and inventories witnesses various medical/legal materials and performs other appropriate inmate patient orientation; screens inmate patients for psychiatric and/or medical problems. Trained in cardiopulmonary resuscitation as needed; safeguards states supplies and equipment; serves as a member of the interdisciplinary treatment team; participates in and conducts group or individual therapy sessions; may therapeutically participate in daily yard activities.
