California Prison Health Care Services was created to restore a constitutional level of health care for the 175,000 inmates in California’s correctional facilities. Providing quality care for people who previously had no voice in their own care is a noble cause and epic in scope. It requires individuals with an exceptional dedication to their profession and their patients. Job Description: A Physician and Surgeon (P&S) (Internal Medicine/Family Practice) under general direction, performs assigned medical work in a State institution and provides care for inmates. Performs all phases of the medical services provided of inmates, and makes professional decisions regarding surgery and general medical work. Time Limited Board Certified: $248,172/annual Lifetime Board Certified: $235,740/annual Board Eligible: $223,344/annual REQUIREMENTS: Possession of the legal requirements for the practice of medicine in California, as determined by the Medical Board of California or the California Board of Osteopathic Examiners. AND Possession of a valid certificate issued by the American Board of Family Medicine (or Osteopathic Family Medicine) or the American Board of Internal Medicine (or Osteopathic Internal Medicine): or admissibility to an internal medicine of family medicine Specialty examination as evidence by a written statement from the Secretary of the American Board of Family Medicine or the American Board of Internal Medicine.
