Job Description: The Department of Mental Health (DMH) Vacaville Psychiatric Program (VPP) has an opening for a Cook Specialist II. The Vacaville Psychiatric Program (VPP) is located within the California Medical Facility (CMF-Department of Corrections). The Program consists of a licensed 150-bed Acute Psychiatric Program, a licensed 76-bed Intermediate Care Facility, and a 44-bed Day Treatment Program. The Cook Specialist II prepares, cooks, and dispenses meals for patients in the DMH Kitchen. Responsibilities include care of culinary equipment, supplies, work areas and supervision of inmate workers. The Cook II supervises the inmate workers in the preparation and serving of food, clean up of the kitchen and dining room, and the transportation of food. With the assistance of inmate workers, prepares the complete meal for DMH patients based on the menu provided by the Clinical Dietitian. Requisitions, receives, inspects, stores, and inventories supplies and equipment. Provides training to inmate workers on sanitation, safety, food preparation, and personal hygiene. *NOTE: The salary indicated above will includes $190 per month pay differential for the supervision of inmate workers.
