Job Description: The DMH Vacaville Psychiatric Program (VPP) is located within the California Medical Facility (CMF Department of Corrections). The Program consists of a licensed 150-bed Acute Psychiatric Program, a licensed 76-bed Intermediate Care Facility, and a 44-bed Day Treatment Program. Under the direction of the Medical Director, the Clinical Dietitian (Safety) develops and implements nutritional care plans for patients; completes nutritional assessments at time of admission; participates as a member of the interdisciplinary team on each unit; assists and advises clinical personnel on any special nutritional needs of patients; maintains up-to-date records of nutritional assessments, special diets, and other information as needed; interprets prescription for special diets; participates in quality improvement activities; provides consultation services; consults with the CMF Dietary Department; assists in the selection and training of dietary staff, as well as conducts in-service training programs for food personnel. Minimum qualifications include registration with the Commission on Dietetic Registration of the American Dietetic Association and have education equivalent to graduation from college with a major in Dietetics or Institutional Management from a coordinated undergraduate dietetic program or a formalized post baccalaureate education program approved by the American Dietetic Association.
