Job Description: ***WHO MAY APPLY: Eligible candidates who are current State employees with status in the above classification or lateral transfers from an equivalent class, former State employees who can reinstate into this class or persons who are reachable on a current employment list for this classification. LIMITED TERM (24 MONTHS) (MAY BECOME PERMANENT) FULL TIME POSITIONS AVAILABLE DUTIES: DIRECTS THE DAILY OPERATIONS OF A SPECIFIC AREA AND/OR PROGRAM OF THE INSTITUTION. THE CORRECTIONAL LIEUTENANT TYPICALLY REPORTS TO THE CORRECTIONAL/FACILITY CAPTAIN, WHO IS RESPONSIBLE FOR BOTH THE CUSTODY PHASE AND GENERAL OPERATION OF A PROGRAM UNIT, UNDER POLICIES ESTABLISHED BY THE WARDEN. THE CORRECTIONAL LIEUTENANT CONDUCTS DISCIPLINARY HEARINGS FOR INMATES, RESPONDS TO FIRST/SECOND LEVEL APPEALS, EFFECT AND TRACK INMATE BED MOVES, SECURE AD/SEG HOUSING WHEN NECESSARY AND PREPARE APPROPRIATE LOCK-UP ORDERS, RESPONSIBLE FOR THE ACCOUNTABILITY AND TRACKING OF ALL RULES VIOLATIONS REPORTS, AND DIRECTLY SUPERVISES THE OVERALL SAFE AND SECURE OPERATION OF THEIR ASSIGNED AREA AND/OR PROGRAM UNIT. ***MUST HAVE PEACE OFFICER BACKGROUND OR COMPLETED/APPROVED BACKGROUND CLEARANCE.
