Job Description: Nursing care to developmentally or mentally disabled clients; work with other disciplines as part of the treatment team to provide an overall treatment program for the client; performs procedures such as administering medications, taking and charting temperature, pulse, blood pressure and respiration, observes clients' physical condition and behavior and reports significant changes to unit supervisor or physician, records nursing notes on clients; prepares and cares for clients during treatment; gives first aid as needed; participates as a member od the multidisciplinary team with the development of treatment plans and objectives from assessment of the clients. helps to create a safe and therapeutic environment for clients; applies mental health principles in all relationships with clients; motivates clients to develop self-reliance in daily living; develops, encourages participation in and supervised on-the-unit group and individual program activities for clients.
